Electric Brake controllers allow the tow vehicle to activate and adjust the braking effort of the trailer being towed (providing it is equipped with electric trailer brakes).

Electric Trailer Brakes are an essential safety item on most heavily laden trailers, ie horse floats, heavy boats, car trailers etc. All of these should be towed by a suitable towing vehicle (most probably a 4WD). Refer to relevant state regulations regarding towing of trailers.
