Warn are Australia’s largest selling electric winches for 4WD use.
They are specified by most government departments and have an excellent reputation for 4WD vehicle recovery and reliability.
Important Information:
- Warn winches can be fitted to suitable steel or aluminium winch mount bull bars. Check with your local 4WD WORLD outlet before installing a winch. Some alloy bull bars require a steel winch mounting frame.
- Vehicles equipped with an electric winch should be fitted with an efficient dual battery system. This allows longer periods of use in tough 4WD conditions.
Select a suitable unit, ie XD9000, that can be easily transferred from one 4WD to another.Always use a pulley block when winching. This doubles the pulling capacity and uses more rope off the winch drum which improves the gearing, allowing maximum winching effort in all situations.A portable mounting system, where the Warn electric winch in a special frame can be mounted to the front or rear of the vehicle, is now available. This is ideal for airbag equipped vehicles where a winch mount bull bar is not available to date.Winches can be used under water for short periods, ie if you bog in a creek, the quickest and easiest way out is your electric winch. All Warn winches have a long remote control cable enabling the driver to operate the winch from behind the steering wheel.Warn electric winches are mostly planetary geared (except the 8274). This makes the units compact and lighter in weight than some other brands.Warn XD9000
The most popular Warn electric winch. Fits most Winch mount alloy or steel bull bars. When used with a pulley block, ie double lined, it can pull most 4WDs from any situation. The central box can be mounted on the bull bar or under the bonnet if space exists. The remote control lead plugs into this unit.
The winch comes with a roller fairlead and 38 metres of 8 mm galvanised aircraft cable. A simple clutch lever engages the unit and the free wheel function allows the winch rope to be pulled off the drum quickly to facilitate a fast recovery from a river or creek.
