Dual Battery Systems are a must when 4WD touring, camping or holidaying. They are ideal for supplying 12 volt power for your portable fridge freezer, fluoro lighting or other 12 volt camping accessories.
NOTE: An inverter can be used for 240 volt power supply.
Additional fused power sockets are usually fitted into the rear of the 4WD vehicle to facilitate easy use by the 4WD owner. Plug in points are used in most cases.
Manufacturers
such as Rotronics provide isolator units that allow both the original
(starter) battery and the auxiliary battery to be charged by the vehicle's
alternator.
When using a fridge or winch, only the auxiliary battery is discharged leaving the original (starter) battery to start and operate the 4WD's electrical system.
