4WD World (ABN 13 054 482 049) operates the following websites, and this policy applies to all of them:

In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean 4WD World.

We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access, correct or complain about it.

1. What we collect

We collect only what we need to answer your enquiry and supply the product or service you have asked about. That is usually:

your name, email address and phone number
your vehicle make, model, year and configuration, and details of your intended use, which we need in order to advise on fitment
your suburb, postcode or delivery address where relevant to freight or fitting
the content of your enquiry, and any correspondence that follows
where you buy from our online store, your order and delivery details. Card payments are processed by our payment providers and we do not store your full card number.

We do not seek sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act, and we ask that you do not send it to us.

2. How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you when you complete an enquiry or contact form on one of our websites, place an order, call us, email us, message us through a social media or messaging channel, or deal with us in person. We collect technical information automatically through cookies and similar technologies, as described in section 6.

You can browse our websites without telling us who you are. If you choose not to provide the information an enquiry form asks for, we may not be able to quote or advise on fitment.

3. Why we use it

to respond to your enquiry, prepare a quote, and advise on fitment and suitability
to supply, deliver, fit or service the product you have asked about
to process and fulfil orders placed through our online store
to keep records of the advice we have given and the products we have supplied, including for warranty purposes
to improve our websites and understand how they are used
to send you marketing about products and services related to what you enquired about, where you would reasonably expect it or you have consented, and always with a way to opt out
to meet our legal obligations

4. Direct marketing

If we send you marketing email or SMS, every message will include a way to opt out, and we will action your opt-out promptly. You can also opt out at any time by emailing info@4wdworld.com.au or calling 1800 807 176. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not supply it to third parties for their own marketing.

5. Who we share it with

We use a number of established service providers to run our websites, deliver our email, process orders and measure our advertising. Depending on which of our websites you use and what you do on it, your information may be disclosed to:

Google (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Ads), for website measurement and advertising
Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram advertising tools), for advertising measurement and audience building
TikTok advertising tools, for advertising measurement
Podium, which routes enquiries and messages to our team
Trustindex, which displays customer reviews sourced from public review platforms
Mailgun (Sinch), which delivers the email generated when you submit an enquiry form
Google Workspace, where our staff read and reply to your enquiry
Shopify and our payment providers, for orders placed through our online store
Digital Pacific, our Australian web hosting provider, and Sucuri, our website security and firewall provider
freight and delivery companies, where we are sending you goods
suppliers, manufacturers and fitting centres, but only where this is necessary to quote on, supply or fit the product you have asked about
our professional advisers, and any person to whom we are required or authorised by law to disclose your information

6. Cookies and tracking

Our websites use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your preferences, measure how the site is used, and make our advertising more relevant. Some of these are set by the third parties named in section 5.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of personalised Google advertising through Google Ads Settings and of personalised Meta advertising through your Meta account settings. Blocking cookies may stop parts of our websites working properly.

7. Overseas disclosure

Several of the providers named in section 5 store or process personal information outside Australia, principally in the United States. By submitting an enquiry or placing an order you acknowledge that your information may be disclosed to these overseas recipients. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, but we cannot control the laws of every country in which they operate.

8. How we protect it

We hold personal information in access-controlled systems, protected by a website firewall, encrypted connections and restricted staff access. We keep it only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law, and then we destroy or de-identify it.

No system is completely secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

9. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it is wrong or out of date. Email info@4wdworld.com.au or write to us at the address below. We will respond within a reasonable period, normally 30 days. If we refuse your request we will tell you why in writing.

10. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at info@4wdworld.com.au or 1800 807 176. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, and the effective date is shown at the top.
